SR Irene Masayira Evangelism Report
“You have to act if your fear comes,” Reverend PD Zinyama this statement helped
me a lot and I thank God.
This term at school I preached in
my classroom, one on one and in small groups. Everyday
before sharing the word,
I would start by saying my testimony. Some pupils were amazed with my testimony, especially the part that I was born again. God always assists
you and he gives you the power to overcome sin.
Some students
fought the gospel because I would denounce them and their sin but that never
stopped me from preaching. A few pupils,
from forms two to four (15-17 years)
accepted the Word of God. I also preached to the form ones about the sin of fornication.
It’s a problem that God had shown me that they have and true to this some of
them testified about struggling with fornication. On one of the days, some of my classmates were annoyed by my
preaching, they began shouting at me which attracted many who joined them and they
all immediately started uttering cruel words to me.
My fellow pupils usually question
me about ties they
were curious as to why we cut ties with our relatives,
I answered this question by telling them that it is because we believe in
different Gods. They oppose what I believe in and because of this I simply
can't associate with them. They were surprised when I said this. I also told
them that I don't watch television and I don't have a smartphone the reason being they both lead me into sin so therefore I
can’t.
I preached to two new girls who recently joined our
school and they accepted the Word of God, and chose to be born-again. Some pupils ended
up hating me but I kept on preaching. Some colleagues reported me to members of staff but it
never worked. Most teachers kept it to themselves. It’s only the deputy
headmaster that eventually summoned me but I told her
with great confidence that I don't tolerate
anything that deviates me from God’s path and that is the truth.
My
assessment is that people are deep in
sin and still want to remain trapped in their awfully sinful nature. This is
seen by the hate they express when we preach the truth and denounce sin. I also had the privilege of being joined
by sister Nokutenda on certain occasions whilst preaching.
Lastly but not
least we preached and testified
during Assembly: some were
already aware about who we are as
Spiritual Movement and their need to be born again. This made us glad. We had tried to preach during
Assembly throughout the term but to no avail. Finally on the closing day of school our request was granted. I
learnt that when you declare something it actually happens because I had declared
that I would preach during Assembly. During my sermon some teachers were
shocked by the power of the sermon and began to question each other. I preached
about how people in sin cannot get to heaven. (1 Corinthians 6: 9 – 10)
