La Fontaine Evangelism Report By
SR Precious
On the first
day of school, I preached during Assembly. It was impromptu, I wasn't told
before but it was announced during Assembly, I took the chance and
I preached about sin this message pleased only a few, as I
was on the podium, I could hear some whispering that she shouldn’t be allowed
to lead devotion during assembly.
The following
day, I preached in class and continued doing the same that whole week. The week
that followed after I preached to a girl by the name Ano she had confronted me
challenging the existence of God and blubbered
about how the heavens and the earth
were just created
by an illusion which made no sense
as I listened. I chose not to
react as violently as I was feeling, but instead elaborated to her about my
salvation: how I was saved, from my sins, God's redemption and the power of the
cross. I told her that no one had the power
to remove my sins, because
even those close
to me couldn't remove them. I
then asked her that if God doesn't exist
by what mighty power, courage
and strength do I conquer these sins which seemed to be incurable. Surprised by
this response, she started
frowning and showed
irritation, driven by my confession
of faith that I had uttered. I continued challenging her that if she believes that God isn't
real, she should take a look at my life and explain how I overcame
certain sins which
seem to be unconquerable to
teenagers she replied with a simple its fine. I went on further to say go and look
for a million questions that prove the inexistence of God and I'd be more than
welcome to answer them all. She hasn't come back to me since. After this
incident occurred, I continued preaching for the rest of that week. I shared
about my life's journey with God and the man called Jesus who does wonders.
On 17/01/25 Br. Tadiwa
and Tamiraishe joined our school for their A level education. That very same
day they boarded the school bus, and I joined them on the bus. I asked one of the staff members to preach on the bus and she told all the
pupils to maintain silence and listen attentively to the Word as it was being
preached. Upon arrival at school the member of staff and a few students thanked
us for the wonderful Word and some even said Christ had remembered La Fontaine.
3 girls received Christ.
On the way home
they preached again in the school bus and some were now talking but we remained
unshaken. The following day we preached
about holiness making reference to the bible verses when it talks about,
"let your yes be a yes and your no be a no", 2 more girls received
Christ as their savior
despite the noise
that was going on in the bus. Afterwards, we adapted another
way of preaching, since some borders had no access
to the school bus, we began going class by class sharing the Word of God. Up until we closed school,
we never missed a
day during lunchtime.
Firstly, we
preached in the form one class. When we entered into the classroom, only one
student was inside, despite this we
started preaching to him
in no time, two more pupils joined
and we preached about
holiness and our life's journey with Christ as well as rapture, telling them
that despite their age they can
be made holy by God, if a 3-year-old
child can steal sugar and lie that he didn't,
God can also use those
that are very young. Only a few received Christ and none were girls.
On the way home we preached on the school bus and 1 girl
received, we preached about all immorality, women dressing to attract, men
facing challenges because of lust as well as accidents just because they fail
to obey God. The word was so powerful that there was silence, some were offended by this truth, they ended up putting on earbuds and earphones so as to
try and ignore the Word but to others, it was very helpful.
On another day
after, some staff members were talking about
soccer matches which was irritating to my ears because they were shouting
and speaking at the
top of their voices. And at lunchtime Mrs. Mufaro (the caterer) and
(Br. Raymond) called us during lunchtime. In a polite and pretentious way, they
said that students were complaining about us forcing them to pay attention to the word whilst we are preaching. We told them that no one was being
forced to listen, we will be just talking about the man called Jesus and
those who are interested will listen and those
who aren't won't,
and she told us that we must change the way we preach and we departed. We went to the form
2 block and preached, many seemed to be attentive as we shared and quite a
number of students received Christ.
We talked about
Jesus and whether we got a positive or a negative response it didn’t matter to
us. We preached in the
school bus until one of the teachers
who had thanked us on the first day after we had shared the Word of God said isn't it wise to give each other chances,
i.e. if two preach today then the other preaches tomorrow etc. we said,
"no", because we can't tell God what to do and unless He tells us
otherwise. We continued to preach the Word in the school bus the three of us
every day. She also said that the staff members, too, are even complaining
about hearing the word every day but that didn’t shake us at all.
As we continued
preaching in classes and in the school bus the Chaplain became angry, very
angry and he summoned Br. Tadiwa and said that the members of staff don't want
you to preach in the school bus and he just said its fine and the conversation
ended. When it was time to board the bus to go home, we preached in the bus,
regardless of their annoyance. We knew we had to listen to God and continue
preaching. Acts 4: 19. There were a few who continued responding to God’s
Word, and a girl by the name Jacina received
Christ again, which personally encouraged me to continue preaching
because there was at least one
person who God was after Luke 15: 7.
We continued with
the same routine of preaching in classes and on the bus much to the displeasure
of the Chaplain and school Administrator. They summoned Br. Tadiwa and Tami and
asked them why they were still preaching and they replied
saying that God still wants us to do so. Filled
with anger the administrator said Are
you challenging the school management? She went further to exclaim- its only
because we aren't allowed to beat students otherwise, I could have beaten you;
later on, she decided to call Dr Zinyama who is one of our guardians.
After this
encounter on our way home we preached holiness and God not allowing women
to braid their
hair making reference to 1 Timothy 2 v
9. The female teachers who were on the bus from R.T.G tenant on the third
seat and backwards said that we are
all from different denominations we have got different doctrines, constitutions
as well as beliefs so if you say that we mustn't braid our hair what do you
mean? Because in Corinthians Paul talks about hair holding the beauty of a
woman, even when you preach consider other people's views and beliefs and also if seventh day Adventist schools
were to say all pupils
who learn there
keep the sabbath day Holy was it going to be
interesting, "no", but the bottom line is don't preach about things
that hurt others or what others consider to be ok but know what you preach.
We acted as though
we didn’t hear anything. When Br. Tadiwa was preaching, he denounced her saying
you aren't the one who told us to preach so you don't
tell us what to
and what not to preach, if God doesn't
want me to preach about it, he will let me
know, but who are you to tell us what to say and moreover who are you before
God. He said this whilst he was preaching because the teacher had said it's not
a discussion but I'm just telling you.
The following day
we preached again on our way to school and back. This time whilst on the bus there
was a girl whose mother is the administrator, she decided to borrow a speaker
and as the brothers preached, she increased the speaker's volume
to 100 percent and the main reason
was so that people
"listen to the music instead of the word." As the music was being
played on full blast, she held the
speaker very closely to Br. Tami's ear whilst he was preaching trying to annoy
him, but he continued preaching despite the music being played.
The following day
as I was preaching the music again was being played on full blast; but I
continued preaching whilst the music continued playing. That very same day on
our way home a male teacher fought the gospel; by saying don’t you see that preaching
whilst the music is being played no one is paying attention nor listening and he also talked about
"time", that when we are going home it's not the time to hear the word
but we do have devotion time so you can make
use of it but we kept on preaching and Jacina received Christ as her
savior.
The next day; we were told that we have an appointment with Mr. Madya (the owner or CEO of the school from America). The
appointment commenced at 15:00 pm and ended at 16:23. He opened quite a number
of verses trying to manipulate us but all went in vain. He talked about the
staff and students complaining about the word, and said that there is time for
everything, so don't preach on my bus. I bought the bus so that my students could
relax so stop preaching in my bus and if you do I will expel
you from my school. He said that I gathered
those people so that they could learn
and not hear the Word, so don't try to cause
unnecessary havoc in my school, go to other schools or places and gather your
own people; and preach to them; but not the ones I have gathered.
He also talked
about the laying of hands, saying that at school we shouldn't lay hands on
anyone, no one is being appointed or anointed to be a bishop or pastor. He
talked about the subconscious and conscious mind saying that worshiping God is not feelings or emotions, it's the mind that tells
the being to worship God so
don't force people to listen to the Word of God instead be those people whom
God said instead remove the dirt from your feet and move on. He said that
worshipping is about your neighbor; how he feels. After all this we asked him
that if worshipping God is about your neighbor; so then why did Jesus say to
Peter, "get behind me Satan", we also told him that we weren't
forcing anyone to listen, we are preaching so that those who are interested may
be saved and it's also for our own good.
The conversation
ended whilst he was still furious. But again, we decide to listen to God and
hear from him so when we were going home, we preached
again on the bus knowing
everything he had said however we had become like Peter ACTS 4: 19
We continued preaching up until we closed school
on the 7th of April 2025.
