University
of Zimbabwe Quarterly Evangelism Report
JULY
TO OCTOBER
The University
evangelism team has been actively sharing the Gospel with students, workers,
bus drivers, vendors and conductors. We also thank God for the preaching points
we have managed to establish, which are the university bus terminus, the
entrance of the University Chapel, Chicken Inn which is on Campus and in
hostels. We also preach on school buses and mini buses that we border from the
University bus terminus. This report highlights some of our experiences.
We thank God this
semester he gave us another labourer to help with the great harvest. Brother
Trust who joined us after completing his high school.
There was a day when
Brother Takudzwa Machingura was preaching at the school bus terminus, a young
man passed by on his way to the toilet, he thought that upon his return he
would find Takudzwa done with preaching. To his surprise he came back and
Takudzwa was still preaching. When brother Takudzwa finished preaching, the
young man approached him and asked him how masturbation was a sin? He went on
further to confess that he needed assistance as he was struggling with masturbation
and then he received Christ.
One other day when
brother Trust was preaching two students in their first year came to listen to
the preaching. On another day when brother Takudzwa was preaching in the
dormitory quad two people received Christ. On a separate occasion, after
evangelism one young man came and encouraged the preachers to continue with the
good work.
At one point when Brother
Trust was preaching in the boys’ hostel called NC3, some people mocked him from
the windows, but some responded with Amens whilst others clapped. Brother
Munopa too faced the same negative energy when he was evangelising at Chicken
inn and they said to him “you are not allowed to preach here.”
In a nutshell, we
have had amazing experiences during evangelism this quarter. God has forced us
into having experiences that we would have never chosen to have. but because of
this we have experienced spiritual growth. All the negativity we faced never
stopped us from peaching but it actually helped us to stand firm and not to be
ashamed of the Gospel.
We are grateful
for our Captain for always guiding us and to the Holy Spirit for leading us in
this great work. We look forward to continuing to share the Gospel around our
campus.
